Sinclair FM Wristwatch Radio
Designed by Dagfinn Aksnes, this compact FM wristwatch combined digital timekeeping with radio reception, using the strap as an aerial and the clasp to hold a separate battery. Released at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, it moved beyond the power-hungry LED displays of earlier digital watches, featuring an LCD clock, built-in FM tuner, and earpiece audio. Production was eventually halted, making it a rare glimpse into 1980s enthusiasm for wearable tech. The watch was later featured in Alex Newson’s book “Fifty Watches That Changed the World”, which celebrates influential designs in timekeeping.
