ZX SPECTRUM IODO

Paula Silva, from Consultório da Paula, is the creator of the Speccy IODO (Issue One Dot One), a recreation of ZX Spectrum’s Issue One board. The motivation for this project arose form the high price of these computers in particular.

The project began in December 2018 and had legs to stand on because an Irish professional artist had created some screen printings and paintings of old computers, including the ZX Spectrum issue one. This man ended up sending Paula Issue One’s board, without its components, and that allows for the project to begin to take shape.

It is a Portuguese project with a particular symbolism, because it shows Portugal’s ability to create hardware projects.

The first IODO ever created, with the serial number #0000h, is the one you can see on display, a donation made by the Museum’s creator.

The interface prototypes Paula has been developing were also donated by the Consultório to the Museum, and are on display too.
