PHILLIPS MSX VG8020

Created in the midst of the chaotic microcomputer market that was going on in the early ‘80s, full of dozens of non-compatible computers, MSX’s purpose might have been one of the most noble in the history of informatic.

Announced by Microsoft in 1983, the MSX is more of a standard than it is a computer. This standard dictated the computers design, which could later be manufactured by different factories. This is the reason why there are MSX’s manufactured by companies such as Phillips, Goldstar, Sony, Canon, among others.

Even though it had limited success in Europe, the MSX was a key micro in Brazil, Japan, South Korea and Argentina.

Between 1983 and 1990, the MSX had 4 versions: the MSX, the MSX2, the MSX2+ and the MSX TurboR, both only the first two were successful in the market.
