COMMODORE C64

Following Commodore’s CEO, Jack Tramiel’s trademarked slogan, “A Computer for the masses, not the classes”, the Commodore 64 had at its’ root, just like the ZX Spectrum, the aim to create a low-cost computer for the masses.

To this day, the Commodore 64 is remembered by its graphic capacity, sprite manipulation, and even more so for its audio chip, the SID, able to create distinct and unmistakeable melodies.

Even though in some European markets the Spectrum was more successful, the Commodore 64 sold three times what the Sinclair computer sold in international markets. The Commodore 64 might have won the market battle, but not the Portuguese people’s heart.
