TC2010 COMPUTER PROGRAMME RECORDER
TIMEX in Portugal also created a special recorder for the TC2048 and the TC2068. This recorder was already digital and had nothing to do with USA’s TIMEX recorder, the TS2020 also in display.
Because it was digital, it produced a square wave instead of the regular sound wave, thus originating better results both in the recording of cassettes, as well as in their reading. Because it produced a square sound wave, music cassettes could not be read by this recorder.
The recorder’s sound control did not affect the volume that made its’ way to the computer, having only the purpose of allowing the user to listen to the sound.
When visiting the Museum, it was explained to us that the physical components of this device were designed by H. Susano in a parallel project to be released during Christmas, as was regular at the time. The logo – used for the very first time – represents a person and a computer. It was presented by P. Esteves and was the result of the will to change the image used by the brand at the time.
