One of the most anticipated peripherals for Timex Sinclair computers was the modem. Timex had announced that the modem would be released in November 1983. Unfortunately, before they even got their first modem order, Timex abandoned the computer market.

After a while, Westridge Communication, a division of Anchor Automation, relaunched the modem they had been developing for Timex. This is the reason why the TS2050 became known as the Westridge 2050.
