PETE SHELLY RECORD
Many disks were used to make videogames and computer programmes available for users. Something also very common at the time were music albums from bands being released with additional tracks envisioned to be used in a computer.
Pete Shelly’s vinyl record is a great example of that, and it had a Spectrum programme created to be watched whilst the album played.
The procedure to be able to do this consisted in recording the audio into a cassette and only after loading the programme, to avoid the risk of damaging the disk. This opened up the possibility of playing audio whilst the programme ran in the computer.
You can find many videos showcasing this phenomenon on YouTube, an example being this video here.
