AMSTRAD / SCHNEIDER CPC 6128

In an attempt to appease the corporate segment, Amstrad released in 1985 an evolution of its’ CPC 464. This computer was given more 64 Kb (ending up with 128Kb in total), a floppy disk drive and was compatible with the CP/M+ operative system. This new model was called the CPC 6128.

Even though this computer was not as successful as its’ predecessor, the CPC 6128 still managed to win over the hearts of videogame players due to its’ larger memory and faster ability to load videogames (due to its’ 3” floppy disk drive).

Similarly to what had happened with the CPC 464, this model was also sold by Schneider.

This model’s industrial language would, at a later time, be an inspiration for the design of the Spectrum 3+, released by Amstrad, after merging with Sinclair at the end of 1985.
