MASS STORAGE
Mass storage is a way to archive information you may want to retrieve in the future. This consult of information may be used to load a programme that was saved, or data produced in the computer (i.e. a document you may have created).
The Spectrum used the common magnetic tape cassettes (common at the time) as Mass Storage. Even though it had its’ disadvantages, they were less prone to usage damage, something that happened with vinyl records. This caused for them to have huge success and lasted almost up until CDs started being used.
Therefore, in this part of the exhibit you can see different kinds of cassettes (audio, video – Beta and VHS), cartridges, punch cards, disks/records and CDs.
