MICROQUARTZ AND MICROQUARTZ GT

The (black) Microquartz was a watch released in 1977 as a bid to use the components that resulted from the fiasco that was the Black Watch (shown here on the side). Most of the electronics and component behaviour was the same as it had been on the Black Watch, and it was also sold already assembled. This helped prevent some of the dissatisfaction brought on by the previous model.

It was advertised as a piece to glued on to the rear-view mirror of a car, using double-sided tape, or to the back of a bathroom mirror.

It worked by pressing the front button to see the hours and minutes for a few short seconds (as to save battery). If you kept pressing the button you would see the seconds and if you pressed it again you would see the day of the year.

After the original version, the Microquartz GT (silver) was launched, and it had a button to set the time in the back of the device, making it more accessible.
